


The Bassa d'Oles pond is a beautiful little corner of the valley just a short distance from Vielha. It is an ideal place to spend the day with the family. The itinerary suggests a walk around the pond which is surrounded by a fir and red pine tree forest as well as juniper and blueberry bushes. There is usually quite a lot of fauna in the area so be on the lookout for tracks or signs of animals. Do not be surprised to see a roe deer in the evening.
It is reached by car along the asphalted road 9 km from Vielha passing through the village of Gausac, following the signs.
The starting point is the car park of the Bassa d´Oles. You will begin to hike up to the left of the Piusa Refuge. There are white and yellow PR markers inviting you to follow the forest trail with two short but steep ascents.
